Joseph Silk ist Bloomberg-Forschungsprofessor an der Johns Hopkins University und Forscher am Institut für Astrophysik in Paris und am Beecroft Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology an der Universität Oxford. Zu seinen zahlreichen Büchern gehören »The Big Bang«, »The Infinite Cosmos: Questions from the Frontiers of Cosmology« und »On the Shores of the Unknown: A Short History of the Universe«. Er lebt in Paris.
